The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall including thundershowers at many places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and the northeastern region, center and southern part of India.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfalls falls in isolated places likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 24 hours and north Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra during 19th-20th September; Heavy rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat region, Tamilnadu, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during next 48 hours”, IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) says in its report released recently.
As per the report, the Low-Pressure area lies over north Madhya Pradesh & adjoining south Uttar Pradesh which is likely to weaken during next 24 hours. The western parts of the monsoon trough are in its near-normal position. However, its eastern part has shifted northwards and runs towards northeast India. A cyclonic circulation lies over Malay peninsula & neighborhood which is likely to shift northwards gradually along Arakan coast and move over to the north Bay of Bengal around 19th-20th September, thereby activating the east-west shear zone during these days.
Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Rajasthan and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, 46,000 people from Mandsaur and Neemuch districts were shifted to safer places by late Sunday night as heavy rain continued to lash the western region of Madhya Pradesh, a government spokesperson said.
