Satya Prabin, a software engineer turned farmer in the Rayagada district in Odisha was brimming with the utmost confidence when he left his software developer job in a Malaysian IT company and returned home to become a farmer.
That brilliant confidence led him to become a successful farmer today and turned him into a source of inspiration for many. Thirteen years ago, Satya Prabin's father moved from Andhra Pradesh to Rayagada. He used to cultivate vegetables to support his family. Satya studied software engineering at a private institution in Rayagada after finishing his schooling in the village's schools. He then traveled to Malaysia and began working for an IT firm there, earning Rs 2 lakh per month.
But he was well aware of his talent for gardening. He observed his father working on farming land as a child and wanted to start farming as a means of support as well. Satya was finally self-assured and motivated enough to quit his work and go back to his village last year to try his luck. And that’s when his success began.
"I joined a Malaysian company after getting my B.Tech. There, I spent 11 years at work. I went back to my village last year to start farming. At that time, I was making about Rs 2 lakh per month in salary. I developed a passion for agriculture as a result of observing my father labor in the fields as a child, Satya said.
On his 34 acres of land, he is growing a variety of veggies using contemporary technology and organic fertilizer. On his farms, he has used a technique known as the drip system. The field has been set out with pipes, and each plant is given water and fertilizer through these pipes.
He is now known in the community as a successful farmer. Apart from earning income for his family, he also employs about 60 people in his village and neighboring villages.
"The locals are unfamiliar with the method used for cultivating vegetables. The result is quite positive, said laborer Kameswar Rao. Laxmi Narayan Sabat, the Rayagada block development officer (BDO), reported that Collector Swadha Dev Singh had visited Satya's farmland and was full of admiration for him.

"He has served as a role model for others. The small-scale farmers need to follow him and grow vegetables on their farmland using organic fertilizer. They will become self-sufficient as a result, and their financial situation will also get better. Additionally, vegetables grown organically will be good for our health, according to Sabat.
