Lekhram Yadav, a 34-year-old farmer from Kotputli, Rajasthan, has seen the impact of organic farming on his livelihood. Born into a humble farming family, his remarkable journey from modest beginnings to a thriving enterprise with an annual turnover of Rs 17 crore showcases how innovation, hard work, and a deep commitment to sustainability can revolutionize individual lives and farming communities.
Starting just five years ago with 120 acres, Lekh Ram has since expanded his organic farm to over 550 acres across three districts in Rajasthan—Jaipur, Nagaur, Jaisalmer—along with Botad in Gujarat. Today, his farm is a beacon of innovation and sustainability, setting new benchmarks for organic farming in India.
A Turning Point: From Science to Soil
He holds a postgraduation degree in Biotechnology and worked as a Technical Manager in an NABL-accredited laboratory specializing in DNA fingerprinting and GMO testing. However, the fast-paced urban life and rising health issues motivated him to rethink his ambitions and purpose. He realized he wanted to contribute directly to nature and human society, and decided there was no better time to make this change than now, rather than waiting for a later phase of life. After extensive research, deep reflection, and many hours of discussions, he embraced organic farming as a way of life.
Lekhram began turning his dream of organic farming into reality in 2013 on 120 acres of land. Like any journey, his had its own share of challenges. His initial experiment with aloe vera cultivation resulted in significant losses. But instead of giving up, he dedicated himself to understanding the nuances of organic farming by conducting in-depth research, attending seminars, and seeking guidance from experts and YouTube tutorials.
Learning from Innovation: Role of TCBT
He started learning from YouTube videos, and a major turning point in his journey came when he discovered the Tarachand Belji Technique (TCBT), a method based on energy science that focuses on enhancing plant health using nanotechnology. This technique emphasizes identifying and balancing positive, neutral, and negative energies for plants, allowing them to thrive naturally.
Lekhram implemented TCBT on his farm and witnessed astonishing results. Encouraged by its success, he expanded its use across all his farms. He also incorporated the principles of Vrikshayurveda, a traditional Indian agricultural science that utilizes biochemistry and Bhasma (ash) chemistry to promote improved plant growth.
A Diverse and Thriving Enterprise
Lekhram’s farms are a perfect example of biodiversity and sustainability. His farming technique is based on integrated farming and crop diversification, including seasonal crops like wheat, gram, mustard, and millet. He also grows high-value spices such as cumin, fenugreek, and chilli, along with a wide range of vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, capsicum, and carrots, and fruits such as mangoes, guavas, and papayas.
All of his farms are NPOP-certified organic, ensuring the highest quality and sustainability standards for his consumers. His farming operations are guided by the ancient concept of 'Sugandhim Pushti Vardhnam,' which promotes crops' holistic growth and nourishment.
Lekhram has also ventured into dairy farming, maintaining a herd of Sahiwal cows that produce organic milk, ghee, paneer, and sweets. His dairy is certified for A2 milk production, ensuring premium quality products.
Blending Tradition with Innovation: Agrotourism & Sustainable Farming
Lekhram's innovation goes beyond his fields. He has developed the 56 Bhog Vatika Project, spanning 22 acres, and embraced agrotourism, inviting guests to experience the true meaning of organic farming. The project is also registered with the Agrotourism Department of Rajasthan, providing a serene haven for those looking to reconnect with nature. He has incorporated ancient processing techniques on the farm, such as grinding spices with a pestle and mortar, extracting oil with hydraulic presses, and using low-RPM atta chakki for flour. These traditional methods generate low heat, preserving the inherent flavor and nutritional value of the food products.
Road to Success to His Awards and Achievement
Lekhram started his own venture, naming it UB Organic India Pvt. Ltd., which sells grains, spices, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products. In recent years, there has been growing interest in quality food, and the demand for organic products continues to rise. His brand has earned a strong reputation due to its commitment to quality and trust.
This success has enabled him to achieve an annual turnover of over Rs 17 crore, making him a pioneer in organic farming. His achievements have been nationally recognized. For the past two years, he has received the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards twice under the category of 'Millionaire Organic Farmer of India' in recognition of his innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
