Vinod Dashora had a stable and secure career in the electronics sector after completing his diploma. His job offered comfort and financial security, but there was always an underlying sense that something was missing. Despite his success in the corporate world, he couldn’t shake the longing for a life closer to nature- a life rooted in farming. Raised in a family of farmers, he had always been drawn to the earthy aroma of the land and the joy of growing things.

This deep, internal calling grew stronger over time, compelling him to take a bold step. He decided to leave his secure job and return to his roots in farming. When Vinod shared his decision with his family, they expressed understandable concerns. The stability of a regular job was hard to walk away from, and farming, with its inherent uncertainties, seemed like a risky choice.

However, Vinod was determined to follow his passion. He believed that modern organic farming techniques could breathe new life into this traditional way of life and transform it into a successful, sustainable business. With conviction and hope, he embarked on his journey to turn his farming dream into reality.

Shift to Organic Farming: Embracing Panch Tatva

Vinod did not just go back to traditional cultivation. He set out on the organic farming track, according to the school of Panch Tatva—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Sky. Vinod knew the uncontrolled utilization of chemicals was draining the nutritional content from soils and poisoning nature.

He used natural methods to grow crops with these five components. He maintains soil quality and decreases dependence on fertilizers. His fields soon showed signs of advantages like more robust plants and richer soil. In this way, he found a farming practice that harmonized with the cycles of nature.

Papaya Farming: A Calculated Risk That Paid Off

Vinod selected papaya cultivation after extensive research. He has selected the Red Lady 796 variety of Papaya for farming. This variety is known for its high yield, thick skin for long-distance transportation, and high market demand. He sowed his first crop over one acre of land in 2019.

The first investment of Rs 1 lakh went into saplings, organic manure, watering, and so on. The plants started fruiting in 8–10 months. The cultivation was carried out for two years which generated a regular income. Papaya was harvested in about 150 quintals with each acre. Vinod sold papaya at a price of up to Rs 50 per kilogram. His belief in organic farming became stronger as profits came.

Key Practices Behind His Success

  1. Quality Saplings:

Vinod sourced his saplings from trusted nurseries. He was paying Rs. 25–30 per plant. He ensured proper spacing of eight feet to facilitate optimal growth and airflow.

  2. Soil Testing and Organic Inputs:

Understanding the soil’s nutrient composition was non-negotiable. Regular testing guided his use of organic fertilizers, primarily refined cow dung manure, which replenished soil fertility without harming the ecosystem.

  3. Natural Disease Management:

Papaya farming is susceptible to root rot and fruit fly infestations. Vinod used organic alternatives rather than resorting to chemical pesticides, which kept his crops healthy while maintaining soil integrity.

  1. Drip Irrigation:

Water conservation is crucial in Rajasthan’s dry climate. He minimized water wastage by installing a drip irrigation system and ensured consistent moisture levels for his papaya plants.

Overcoming Challenges with Determination

The journey to success was not smooth. At the initial stage, he was plagued by things like uneven yield and pest damage. The expenditure of establishing an organic farm came as an additional burden. Still, Vinod did not falter. He consulted agricultural professionals, went through training programs, and applied the knowledge patiently. Slowly, his determination reaped its dividends.

Financial Growth: Profits That Speak Volumes

Vinod's organic papaya cultivation business soon turned out to be a lucrative business. He diversified his activities and boosted production. He earns much more than he ever could in his old job. His organic papayas are known for their quality and command high prices in local and regional markets.

Inspiring Other Farmers

Vinod's success has inspired numerous farmers in Chittorgarh to try organic farming. He regularly shares his experiences with them. He highlights the need for soil health, natural farming methods, and intelligent crop choice to other farmers as well.

His message to other farmers is brief but potent: "Farming is not just a means of earning a living; it's a responsibility. When we farm in harmony with nature, the earth gives us in abundance."

Vinod Dashora's transformation from a diploma holder in electronics to an organic farmer demonstrates the vast scope of eco-friendly farming. His success story verifies that with awareness and determination. His belief in nature's laws and agriculture is strong and these both can be remunerative and rewarding.
