He believed that a country can prosper only when rural technology is advanced and batted for setting up of agriculture based technical institutes in these areas. As a scientist and as the head of the nation he took care of the farmers as much as for developing missile fort the defense forces.
On an occasion, he was also quoted saying that ‘Agriculture has a key role in reducing poverty since 3 billion people live in rural areas and are largely dependent on agriculture, while food process determine the cost of living for the urban poor’. He always admired farmers for their hardwork'.
