Zomato, one of the most popular meal delivery apps in the country, has introduced a 10-minute food delivery service. Deepinder Goyal, the founder of Zomato, took to Twitter on Monday evening to announce the launch of yet another fast delivery service. "10-minute meal delivery is coming shortly to Zomato," he stated.

So far, many tech platforms have offered 10-minute grocery delivery services. This is the first time a business has claimed to be able to deliver food in less than 10 minutes.

"After becoming a frequent client of Blinkit (one of Zomato's investments in the fast commerce market), I started believing that Zomato's 30-minute average delivery time is excessively slow, and will soon have to become obsolete," Goyal said in an official blog post.

“Someone else will make it obsolete if we don't. The only way to survive in the tech business is to innovate and lead from the front. And here we are with Zomato Instant, our 10-minute food delivery service," he continued.

One of the most popular features of the Zomato mobile app, according to Goyal, is "sorting restaurants by fastest delivery time."

While these same-day delivery services are convenient for clients, they are inconvenient for delivery employees. Several incidents have happened since the 10-minute grocery delivery service gained traction in the country, putting the lives of delivery persons in jeopardy.

Goyal clarified that Zomato does not place any pressure on its delivery partners to provide food faster.

"To fulfill our quick delivery commitment, we do not place any pressure on delivery partners to bring food faster," said the company. We also don't penalize delivery partners who are late. The delivery partners are unaware of the promised delivery time. "Time optimization does not occur on the road, and it does not endanger anyone's life," he explained.

When it comes to the launch of this service, Zomato Instant will begin with four stations in Gurugram starting next month.

As of now, no information regarding the release time has been released by the company.

If Zomato Instant is a success, it's logical to assume that other meal-delivery apps, such as Swiggy, will follow suit shortly with comparable fast food delivery services.

Zomato invested in Blinkit after Swiggy launched Instamart a few months ago (formerly known as Grofers). Another 10-minute grocery delivery startup, Blinkit, has received national acclaim for its 10-minute shopping delivery service.

Unlike Instamart, however, it charges Rs 9 for every order, regardless of the price of the basket.
