Bengaluru-based, 19 year old, Kaivalya Vohra, (CTO, Zepto), and Aadit Palicha, (CEO and co-founder), the youngest self-made millionaires with a net worth of Rs 1000 crore, (rank 1036) and Rs 1200 crore, (rank 950), respectively, entered the Hurun Rich India List 2022 with an overall net worth of over Rs 2000 crore.
As many as sixty-five founders of 37 unicorns in India have made it to the IIFL (India Infoline Limited) Wealth Hurun Rich India List 2022. With $900 million in valuation after its latest $200 million series D led by Y Combinator in May, Zepto is pegged to be a unicorn in making. They also made their way to the Forbes 30 Under 30 – Asia – Retail & Ecommerce (2022) list on 26 May this year.
Revolutionizing the Indian grocery segment which is estimated to be $600 Billion currently, Zepto offers grocery delivery across 11 major cities in India, delivering over 3000 grocery products. With a 1000-strong employee base, the startup claims its average delivery time to be 8 minutes and 47 seconds to assure a faultless delivery experience.
More than 82% of the billionaires on the list are above the age of 50, and only 0.6 percent of the rich in the list are below the age of 30, said the Hurun India study. Stanford Computer Science dropouts Palicha and Vohra cofounded KiranaKart in 2020, which used Kirana stores for quick delivery, was operational from June 2020 to March 2021.
Later that year they went on ahead to cofound the quick commerce company, Zepto which offers delivery services for products like fresh fruits and vegetables, daily cooking essentials, dairy, health-and-hygiene products, etc.
Along with grocery, Zepto has also introduced beverage delivery services offering coffee, chai, and other café items. Palicha started his entrepreneurial journey with his first startup GoPool, a student carpool app in Dubai at the age of 17.
