It would be unfair to describe India's most prestigious exam, the UPSC, difficult because the word difficult has no place in the lives of the youth who illuminate India and India's future. Yash Jaluka, from Jharkhand proved that if you truly desire something, you will always find a way. He not only cracked the exam but also secured AIR 4 in India most difficult examination-UPSC.
In an exclusive interview with Krishi Jagran’s Editor in chief, MC Dominic, he discussed his strategy, educational background and how he cracked UPSC in his first attempt itself.
Yash Jaluka began his studies in Jharkhand and completed 12th grade at DPS Bokaro and graduation at Delhi University College. Yash, an Economics student, discussed how he became interested in the Civil Services.
He stated “I did not have much information or interest in it at first, but as I started gaining interest in reading newspapers, my attention was drawn to it. They think that in order to alter a country or society, it is not necessary that you can make a change only by bringing revolution on the leader or social media. You can also use civil service as a way to make a difference in your country and society”.
He also encouraged students from rural areas, saying that they should not care from where they have studied, whether the school was costly or not, or if they knew how to speak English well or not. To pass this exam, you must believe in yourself and your capabilities. If you believe in yourself, your background will not be an impediment to your bright future.
Yash, who ranked 4th in the UPSC examination, discussed agriculture and farming systems, saying that in today's changing era, farmers must pay attention to different forms of farming in addition to traditional farming techniques. The majority of farmers in our nation prefer to produce limited crops such as rice, wheat, or maize. In such a situation, it is necessary that under the new policy, the government should encourage farmers to move away from traditional farming to organic farming.
Yash also spoke about food processing, saying, "It is critical that farmers maintain their produce safe by properly cleaning it so that they can earn the right profit for their produce at the right time." In such a situation, huge companies earn profits while our farmers do not get their cost.”
India is a country that makes the majority of its revenue from agricultural products, and it is said that India's agricultural economy has a rich heritage of agriculture and manufacturing products. While many families retain a farming heritage, it is the country's sixth largest food and grocery market and the world's fifth largest retail market. The food processing industry in general is a growing niche that has the potential of becoming a leading industry in the coming future.
Further upon being about his study strategies, he told Krishi Jagran that being consistent is the key. He used to study for 8- 10 hours a day with achievable targets in mind. He didn’t go to any coaching classes instead used Internet and books available to him for his preparations.
He ended the discussion by saying “It is important to keep faith in oneself. It is not impossible to crack the exam on the first attempt. For this, one has to prepare a strategy and work accordingly. Also, take the help of the internet for the preparations.”
