On April 7, 1948, 61 nations entered into an agreement to establish the NGO, and the constitution went into effect. They identified World Health Day as one of the organization's first official duties. It was first celebrated on July 22, 1949, however, the date was eventually revised to April 7, the commemoration of the founding of WHO, to promote students' engagement.
