Delhi woke up to a cold morning with partly cloudy sky today with minimum and maximum temperatures hovering at 8 Degree Celsius and 24 Degree Celsius.
A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) that hovers over Afghanistan is approaching north India. The WD is likely to cause light to moderate snow over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Isolated rains are also expected in Punjab as well as western parts of Rajasthan. Delhi will also receive rains this weekend.
This trough will be responsible for giving scattered rain and thundershowers over Delhi-NCR on March 2 and March 3. Arunachal Pradesh will also experience moderate to heavy snow or rain.
North and northeastern India will be covered by a thick blanket of isolated dense fog. Air quality in major cities across India, especially Delhi, will fall under the poor to very poor category.
However, maximum temperatures will be cooler than normal across northern half of the country. Whereas, minimum temperatures in the morning hours will be cooler than normal in Central and Eastern India and warmer than normal in Southern India.
The fresh WD will trigger moderate to heavy rain and snow along with thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Similarly, other northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi will also experience isolated rainfall on Saturday and beyond.
Western and Southern India will have generally fair conditions during this forecast period, but the moisture provided by the Bay of Bengal to the states along its coastline may give rise to isolated rainfall in some parts of southern India, like Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Some parts of eastern India will also experience similar weather conditions.
Maximum temperatures will be cooler than normal across northern half of the country. Minimum temperatures in the morning hours will be cooler than normal in eastern India and warmer than normal in northern and southern India. Air quality in major cities across India will be under the poor to very poor category.
