Spring season has arrived, yet residents in a few regions in north India are likely to see rainfall and snowfall under the influences of western disturbances and cyclonic circulations, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Northwest India and Himalayan Regions

A western disturbance, manifesting as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan is likely to bring scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Additionally, under the influence of cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan, scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over some places in the region

Over the plains of Northwest India, excluding south Rajasthan, strong surface winds, with speeds ranging from 25 to 35 kilometers per hour, are forecasted for Saturday and Sunday. This may impact outdoor activities and transportation, requiring individuals to exercise caution.

East and Northeast India

Moving eastward, a cyclonic circulation situated over south Odisha is likely to bring isolated rainfall to Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim till Saturday.

Upcoming Weather Dynamics

Looking ahead, the forecast highlights the arrival of two western disturbances in quick succession. They are expected to impact northwest India from Sunday night, followed by Tuesday night.

These disturbances are likely to bring scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from Sunday till Tuesday. Moreover, Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh may also experience isolated to scattered rainfall during this period.
