The affected areas include Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan & Goa, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Madhya Maharashtra.

Depression Over Bay of Bengal

A depression that formed over the west-central and adjoining Bay of Bengal has crossed the north Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, near Chennai on the 17th of October.

After crossing the coast, the system weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area and is currently situated over South coastal Andhra Pradesh and North coastal Tamil Nadu.

It is expected to weaken further into a low-pressure area in the next 6 hours, moving west-northwestwards.

New Cyclonic Circulation Expected

A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Andaman Sea by 20th October.

A low-pressure area is expected to develop in the Central Bay of Bengal around 22nd October and may intensify as it moves northwestward.
