India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh alerts as monsoon activity picks up pace across the country. Several states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Meghalaya, are set to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days. From the hills of Himachal to the coasts of Kerala, widespread showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected to impact daily life this week. Here are the details

Northwest India Braces for Very Heavy to Extremely Heavy Rainfall

The weakening of a well-marked low-pressure system over northwest Madhya Pradesh, coupled with the presence of multiple troughs, is expected to cause intense rainfall activity in East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and surrounding areas. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely during the next 7 days.

West India to See Intense Showers in Gujarat and Maharashtra

A trough from the northeast Arabian Sea and other synoptic conditions are triggering strong monsoon activity in Gujarat, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and surrounding regions. Northern Gujarat, in particular, is expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall.

Delhi NCR region are set to witness a wet week with cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and moderate rainfall. Temperatures are expected to remain below normal during this period. Both day and night temperatures are forecast to be below normal by 1–5°C.
