Delhi Rains: New Delhi likely to witness light rain
As the showers of monsoon eluded the national capital, the India Meteorological Department (IMD)said that Delhi is likely to witness light rain on 13th July, Tuesday. The delayed monsoon missed yet another date with the capital on 11th July Sunday, and the city still did not receive rain till 12th July evening.
The weather department said, Delhi people woke up to a humid morning with minimum temperature settling at 27 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperature was at 37.7 degree Celsius. Relative humidity was recorded at 55% at 5:30pm.
It is expected that generally cloudy day with the chances of light rain is likely on 13th July Tuesday as minimum & maximum temperature is likely to hover around 25 degrees Celsius & 33 degrees Celsius respectively.
While it’s raining in the periphery of Delhi – Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh & Karnal in Haryana, clouds hovered over Delhi, without giving any relief from heat. The monsoon rains covered west Rajasthan, Punjab & other parts of Haryana.
This is the most delayed monsoon in city after 2002, when monsoon reached Delhi on 19th July.
The IMD officials said, according to standard operating procedure, monsoon onset is declared on the basis of rainfall reported in last 24 hours ending at 8:30 pm.
IMD issues Red, Orange & Yellow alert
The India Meteorological Department on 12th July Monday, issued red alert for Konkan & Goa and central Maharashtra & warning of orange alert in Gujarat and parts of Karnataka, Assam & Maharashtra. It issued orange alert in Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir, and yellow alert in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for 13th July Tuesday.
