IMD Predicts Isolated Heavy Rain Across Several States, Light Rain for Delhi-NCR Until Sept 5

IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across India with heavy to very heavy showers likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, and Kerala. Delhi-NCR will also see cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and below-normal temperatures.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that multiple active weather systems are currently influencing India's climate. The monsoon trough is positioned south of its normal location, and there are cyclonic circulations over North Konkan, Madhya Pradesh, and northeastern Assam. Additionally, a western disturbance is impacting northern Pakistan and the adjoining Punjab region. These combined systems are expected to result in scattered to heavy rainfall across various parts of the country over the next week. Here are the details

Northwest India: Rainfall Alerts Continue

Northwest India will experience widespread rainfall with isolated heavy showers over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the next few days. Very heavy rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab on select days. Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution in hilly and low-lying areas.

West India: Heavy Showers Over Coastal & Inland Areas

Western India will witness isolated heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, and Kutch. Very heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, as well as parts of Gujarat region on select days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places across the region, keeping humidity levels high.

Northeast India: Isolated Heavy Rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh

Northeast India will continue to see isolated heavy showers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and other northeastern states. Very heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, while moderate rainfall with thunderstorms will prevail in other areas during the next five days.

Delhi/NCR: Cloudy with Scattered Rainfall

Delhi and NCR will remain under generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of light to moderate rain. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain slightly below normal, ranging from 30°C to 34°C, while minimum temperatures may drop to 21°C in some areas. Southeast winds will dominate, ranging between 10-22 kmph during the forecast period.
