As February nears its end, India's weather patterns are set for significant changes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts predicting widespread rainfall, snowfall, and temperature fluctuations across various regions. Here's a detailed overview of the upcoming weather conditions.

Western Disturbance to Bring Rain and Snowfall

A Western Disturbance, identified as a trough in the lower to upper tropospheric levels, is expected to influence the weather over the Western Himalayan Region from February 25 to 28, 2025. Due to high moisture influx from the Arabian Sea, the following conditions are anticipated:

  • Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning from February 25 to 28.

  • Himachal Pradesh: Similar conditions expected from February 26 to 28.

  • Uttarakhand: Rain and snow likely from February 26 to 28, with heavy rainfall/snowfall on February 27 and 28.

  • Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan: Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall expected from February 26 to March 1.

  • East Uttar Pradesh: Likely to experience rainfall on February 28 and March 1.
