Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain in Northeast and Heatwave Alerts for Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, and More

The ongoing heatwave is expected to intensify across several parts of India, with multiple regions on high alert. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions as scorching temperatures and hot, humid conditions persist throughout the week.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a varied weather pattern across the country this week. Heavy rainfall is expected in the Northeast and parts of South India, while several northern, central, and eastern states are preparing for intense heatwave conditions. As multiple weather systems interact, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rising temperatures are anticipated in the coming days. Here are the details:

Rainfall Expected in Several Regions

Multiple weather systems are active across the country. An upper air cyclonic circulation over East Bihar, a north-south trough from Chhattisgarh to the Gulf of Mannar, and other systems over Northeast Assam and South Tamil Nadu are expected to bring rainfall and thunderstorms.

Heavy rain during April 24–27; very heavy rain on April 24.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura

Heavy rain expected between April 24 and 26.

South Peninsular India

Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms over Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema for next 7 days.

East India

Rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely from April 26–28.

Jharkhand

Isolated hailstorm expected on April 27.

Western Himalayan Region

Light rain with thunderstorms expected from April 24–26 due to a fresh western disturbance.
