Upper air cyclonic circulations over Gangetic West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Southwest Uttar Pradesh, along with a fresh low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal around 25th August, are influencing the country’s weather. East & Central India: Extremely Heavy Rainfall Over Jharkhand, Odisha

East and Central India are expected to witness extremely heavy rainfall over Jharkhand and Odisha. Other states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and West Bengal may experience isolated heavy rainfall over the next week. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely at most places.

Northwest India: East Rajasthan Faces Extremely Heavy Rain

Northwest India will see extremely heavy rainfall in East Rajasthan on 23rd August. Other areas including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir may witness isolated heavy rainfall over the next week. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely.

West India: Heavy Rainfall to Continue Over Gujarat, Konkan, Maharashtra

Western India, especially Gujarat, will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on 23rd August. A fresh spell is likely from 25th August onwards. Konkan, Goa, and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra are expected to see very heavy rainfall during 26th–28th August. Strong surface winds of 40–50 kmph are likely over Gujarat coast.

Northeast India: Isolated Heavy Rainfall Likely

Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will continue to experience isolated heavy rainfall from 23nd–27th August. Arunachal Pradesh may receive isolated heavy rainfall during 23nd–25th August. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected at many places during the next two days.

South Peninsular India: Light to Moderate Rainfall With Isolated Heavy Showers

South India will witness isolated heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala during 26th–28th August, and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 26th, and 27th August. Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and interior Karnataka may see light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Delhi/NCR Weather Forecast: Light Rain Expected

Delhi and NCR will see generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers from 23nd–25th August. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly below normal on 23rd–25th August, with maximum temperatures around 30–32°C and minimum temperatures around 21–24°C. Winds will mainly blow from the east at 5–20 kmph.

IMD advises residents in affected areas to stay indoors during heavy rainfall, avoid venturing into waterlogged streets, and secure loose objects.
