IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across several regions of India from June 21 to 27, 2025, due to multiple low-pressure systems and cyclonic circulations. Heavy to extremely heavy rain is likely in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and parts of the Northeast and Northwest, with cooler temperatures expected in some areas.

Weather Update: Monsoon is gaining momentum across the country, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of northwest India, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and the Konkan-Goa region. Extremely heavy rain is likely in isolated areas of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Northeast India will also continue to receive intense rain over the next few days.

The monsoon has already advanced over most parts of the country, and conditions are favourable for its further progress into Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi. In the past 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rain has been reported from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the western Himalayan region, along with thunderstorms and strong winds in several areas.

East & Central India Forecast: Very Heavy Rain in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

A low-pressure area persists over southwest Bihar and is expected to move north westward while weakening. However, its impact will be felt strongly in Madhya Pradesh and surrounding states.

Forecast Highlights:

  • Extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm) likely in parts of Madhya Pradesh on June 23.

  • Heavy to very heavy rain to continue in MP till June 27.

  • Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha to experience moderate to heavy showers with thunder and lightning.

West India: Gujarat and Konkan Brace for Torrential Rain

IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Gujarat, along with steady showers in Maharashtra and coastal regions.

Northwest India Forecast: Cloudy Skies and Rains in Delhi, Rajasthan, and the Hills

Several parts of Northwest India, including Delhi, are likely to experience rain and thunderstorm activity. Cyclonic circulations over Rajasthan and the western Himalayan region are expected to bring significant showers.

  • Heavy rain in East Rajasthan and Delhi from June 22 to 23.

  • Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to see very heavy rain June 22–25.

Delhi Weather: Cloudy Skies, Showers, and Cooler Days Ahead

Delhi and NCR will witness a gradual increase in rainfall activity starting June 21. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, offering much-needed relief.

Northeast India: Rain to Persist with Isolated Heavy Spells

Northeastern states will continue to receive light to moderate rain through the week. Some pockets could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Temperature Trends and Heat Alerts

  • Rajasthan: Maximum temperatures are expected to fall by 2–4°C in southwest Rajasthan over the next 3 days.

  • Rest of India: No major change expected in temperature levels.

  • Hot and Humid Conditions: IMD has warned of discomfort in parts of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema between June 22–24.

With multiple low-pressure systems and cyclonic circulations interacting, the monsoon is set to intensify across many parts of India. Residents in flood-prone or low-lying areas should stay alert, follow local advisories, and take necessary precautions. Farmers, too, are advised to plan agricultural operations carefully, especially in regions expecting heavy rainfall.
