India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued widespread alerts as monsoon activity intensifies across the country. An active monsoon trough, along with several weather systems including a depression over southeast Uttar Pradesh, is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to many regions. Northern and central states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are likely to witness intense showers in the coming days. Meanwhile, southern states such as Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are also set to receive continuous heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy spells expected in parts of Kerala and Karnataka. Northwest India to Witness Intense Monsoon Showers

A well-marked low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh, which intensified into a depression, is currently near Prayagraj. It is expected to move across southern Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh over the next two days, triggering intense rains in the region.

South India Braces for Torrential Rains and Gusty Winds

The presence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka and a trough along latitude 10°N is triggering widespread rainfall across peninsular India. Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are expected to receive some of the heaviest downpours this week.

Central & East India: Depression Brings Flood Risk

A depression over southeast Uttar Pradesh is expected to move toward north Madhya Pradesh, bringing extremely heavy rainfall to central India. Bihar and parts of the east will also receive significant rainfall.

Western India: Konkan, Goa, and Ghat Areas on Alert

Light to moderate rainfall will continue across western India, with isolated heavy showers over Konkan & Goa. Ghat regions of Maharashtra are likely to see increased rainfall between July 20–23.
