Weather Update: IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alerts for Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, UP and Other States

Southwest Monsoon is set to advance further into key northern and central parts of India over the next two days. Under the influence of two low-pressure systems, extremely heavy rain is expected over Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand, with continued intense showers in Northeast India.

Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense weather activity across various regions of the country in the coming days. Several weather systems are in play, including two low-pressure areas, a trough, and multiple cyclonic circulations, which are expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and even extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas. East and Central India Forecast: Intense Rainfall, Squalls

A low-pressure area currently lies over southwest Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, and it is likely to intensify further. This, along with other systems, will bring widespread rainfall over central and eastern parts of India.

Gujarat is under the influence of another low-pressure system, which will push significant moisture into western states. The Konkan coast and parts of Maharashtra will also see intense rain spells.

Southern India Set for Heavy Showers with Isolated Extremely Heavy Rain

The southern peninsula is also likely to be impacted, particularly the western coast and ghats. The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall over parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Northeast India Forecast: Heavy Rain; Meghalaya to Receive Extreme Rainfall

Northeast India continues to see heavy monsoon activity. Rain will persist over the next week, with some places expected to receive very heavy to extremely heavy showers.

Delhi-NCR Forecast: Cloudy Skies with Intermittent Rain and Gusty Winds

Residents in Delhi/NCR  can expect cloudy conditions with scattered rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. IMD has forecast below-normal maximum temperatures due to increased cloud cover and rainfall activity.

The prevailing winds will shift between southeast and east directions, with occasional increases in speed during evening storms.

According to the IMD, no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected across the country. Most regions will continue to experience near-normal to slightly below-normal temperatures, particularly in areas receiving rainfall.

With multiple low-pressure systems and monsoon dynamics in full swing, the coming days promise significant weather activity across India. The IMD has advised residents, farmers, and authorities to stay alert, especially in regions under extremely heavy rainfall warnings. Localised flooding, traffic disruptions, and potential landslides in hilly areas remain concerns. Travelers and outdoor workers are urged to follow safety precautions.
