India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast highlighting significant rainfall in southern India, cold wave conditions across northern and central regions, and dense fog in parts of the east and northeast. With a low-pressure area forming over the South Bay of Bengal and a western disturbance influencing weather patterns, the coming days are expected to bring varied and impactful weather across the country. Here’s a detailed update on the forecast and warnings.

A low-pressure system has developed over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal as of 16th December 2024. This system is expected to intensify and move west-north-westwards towards the Tamil Nadu coast over the next two days.

  • Central & West India: Gradual rise of 3-5°C in minimum temperatures over 2-5 days.
