Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Rain, Snow in Northeast and Western Himalayas; Temperature Set to Rise Across India

Rain and temperature fluctuations will impact several regions across India, with snowfall in the Himalayas and showers in the Northeast. Dense fog, cold waves, and rising temperatures are expected in different parts of the country.

As per the latest updates from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), various weather systems are set to impact different regions of the country. The forecast includes rainfall in the Northeast and Western Himalayan region, temperature fluctuations across central and northern India, and dense fog conditions in select areas. Here are the details.

Rainfall and Snowfall Predictions

Temperature Forecast

Significant temperature changes are anticipated across different regions:

Minimum Temperature Trends

  • A gradual rise of 3-5°C is expected over northwest India, except Rajasthan, where it will increase by 2-3°C over the next 3-4 days.

  • Central India will witness a 3-5°C increase in minimum temperature over the next 3-4 days.

  • East India will see a 2-4°C rise after two days.

  • Maharashtra will experience a 2-3°C rise over the next 4-5 days.

  • South India will see a 1-2°C increase after two days.

Maximum Temperature Trends

  • A gradual 3-5°C increase is expected over northwest India.

  • Central India will experience a 2-4°C rise in maximum temperatures.

  • East India will see a 2-3°C rise after two days.

  • Maharashtra, Gujarat, and South India will experience 1-3°C increases in maximum temperatures over the next few days.

Fog and Cold Wave Alerts

  • Dense Fog Warnings: Dense fog conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during early morning hours till February 16.

  • Cold Wave Warnings: Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on February 15.

Delhi/NCR Weather Forecast (Feb 15-17, 2025)

IMD predicts partly cloudy skies with occasional smog and misty mornings for Delhi-NCR in the coming days. Temperatures will gradually rise, with light winds prevailing across the region.
