Western Disturbance to Bring Rain and Snow in Northern Hills

A fresh Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over West Afghanistan and another over southwest Rajasthan are likely to trigger light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms across the western Himalayan region.

Expect thunderstorms and lightning in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West UP from March 13–16 and over Rajasthan on March 14 and 15.

Northeast Braces for Intense Rainfall and Storms

A cyclonic circulation over East Bangladesh and East Assam is expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to the northeast and eastern Himalayan region.

Rainy Spell for South India and Islands

Another cyclonic system over the West Equatorial Indian Ocean and Maldives area, with a trough extending to the Bay of Bengal, is likely to influence southern India.

Temperature Trends and Heatwave Alerts

While the north prepares for wet weather, parts of central, west, and east India are witnessing temperature fluctuations and early summer heat.

Temperature Trends:

• Northwest India: No major temperature change for 48 hours; then 2–3°C drop expected.

• West India: Gradual fall of 2–3°C over the next 4–5 days.

• Central India: Rise by ~2°C in next 3 days; then stabilizes.

• East India: Rise by 3–5°C over the next 5 days.

Delhi is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy with chances of drizzle, light rain, and mist during mornings. Temperatures will gradually cool.
