India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather forecasts for the coming days, highlighting several active systems across the country. Cyclonic circulations, a developing low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, and western disturbances over northwest India are expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in some regions. Northwest India: Rainfall & Temperature Outlook

Northwest India will experience scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days, especially over the Himalayan states. Uttarakhand is expected to witness extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 12 and 13, while Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh will also see heavy showers with thunderstorm activity.

Northeast India: Persistent Rainfall and Thunderstorms

Northeast India will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall with frequent thunderstorms and lightning. Isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on August 12. Other northeastern states like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also have scattered showers through August 15.

South Peninsular India: Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds

South India is likely to see isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Telangana on August 14 and 15. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala will experience scattered heavy to very heavy rain spells between August 12 and 17. Strong surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected over the region in the next two days.

East & Central India: Active Monsoon with Heavy Rainfall

East and Central India will experience isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 12. Several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh, will see heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places between August 12 and 17.

Thunderstorms with lightning and occasional thundersqualls (wind speeds 50-60 kmph) are likely, especially over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during August 12-13.

West India: Scattered Heavy Rainfall with Very Heavy Showers in Konkan

Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall from August 12 to 17, with very heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra around August 16-17.

Delhi/NCR Weather Forecast

After a stable weather phase with near-normal temperatures, Delhi and NCR are expected to experience partly cloudy to generally cloudy skies with light rain and thundershowers spells over the next four days. Maximum temperatures will hover around 31-36°C, while minimums may drop slightly below normal, especially towards the end of this period.

Residents can expect occasional light showers and thundershowers, especially during evening and night hours. The temperatures will remain near normal to slightly below normal, providing some relief from the earlier heat.

With heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several regions, residents are advised to stay alert and follow weather updates from the India Meteorological Department. Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers, be cautious of waterlogging and possible landslides in hilly areas, and secure loose objects against strong winds. In Delhi-NCR, while rain may bring some relief from heat, sudden thundershowers call for caution on roads and outdoors.
