Monsoon activity is set to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Central, Northwest, and Southern India, with very heavy spells in parts of Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and the Western Himalayas. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for a fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall, likely to continue over Central and adjoining Northwest India for the next 4–5 days. Multiple active weather systems are driving intense monsoon activity, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to several regions. Here’s a detailed region-wise forecast.

The monsoon trough is near its normal position, and a cyclonic circulation over Haryana is aiding in the development of widespread rainfall over the northwestern states. Both the Himalayan and plains regions will experience light to moderate rainfall, with isolated pockets witnessing heavy to very heavy spells.

East and Central India: Strong Wet Phase with Thunderstorms

A weakening low-pressure system over Jharkhand and strong cyclonic circulations are triggering intense rainfall over East and Central India. Madhya Pradesh and Odisha are particularly at risk of heavy showers. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) will accompany the rainfall.

West India: Heavy Showers for Gujarat, Konkan, and Ghat Areas

The western coastal belt is set to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. The Konkan coast and the Gujarat region will be the primary beneficiaries of monsoonal showers, which may aid in improving reservoir levels. Localised heavy rainfall is expected in the Ghat areas of Maharashtra and parts of Saurashtra.

Northeast India: Wet Conditions to Persist

Moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal will sustain wet conditions over Northeast India. While most areas will see moderate rain, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in hilly states such as Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
