Cold winds, dense fog, and a dip in temperatures are set to grip parts of India as a Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulation influence the weather. Snowfall and rainfall are expected in the north and northeast, while cold wave conditions may hit Himachal Pradesh. Delhi-NCR will see strong winds and falling temperatures, and dense fog will persist in Bihar and West Bengal. Here’s what to expect in the coming days.

Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Activity to Influence Weather Patterns

A Western Disturbance, currently seen as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and its neighboring areas, is influencing the weather over Northwest and Northeast India. Additionally, a subtropical westerly jet stream with strong winds of 125 knots at 12.6 km above sea level is prevailing over the plains of northwest and northeast India. Meanwhile, a separate cyclonic circulation over Northeast Assam is expected to bring changes to the weather across the region.

  • Northeast India:

    • Arunachal Pradesh will experience widespread light rainfall and snowfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning on February 12th, with isolated heavy rainfall expected on both days.

    • Assam and Meghalaya will see isolated rainfall during this period.

    • Light rainfall activity is also likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on February 12th.

  • Northwest India:

    • Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad will receive light rainfall/snowfall between February 12th.

    • Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will experience isolated snowfall and rainfall on February 12th.

Dense fog will affect parts of Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal, potentially impacting travel. In Delhi-NCR, temperatures will continue to drop with strong winds in the coming days.
