
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rain and thunderstorms across several regions of the country as multiple weather systems remain active. With a weakening depression over Pakistan, cyclonic circulations in eastern and southern India, and troughs extending across central and coastal areas, many parts of the Northeast, East, and Peninsular India are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days.
Northeast India: Heavy Rainfall to Intensify from September 12
Northeast India is set to experience a wet spell with thunderstorms and heavy showers. IMD predicts light to moderate rain at many places until September 11, followed by heavy to very heavy rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between September 12 and 15.

East & Central India: Odisha and Bengal Brace for Heavy Showers
Multiple systems over central and eastern India are likely to bring intense rainfall in the coming days. Odisha, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are expected to witness isolated heavy to very heavy falls, while Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will also remain on alert.

Northwest India: Showers to Pick Up After September 11
Northwest India will see an increase in rainfall activity from September 11 onward. While light showers are expected at isolated places initially, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir are set for thunderstorms with gusty winds. Uttar Pradesh will also witness isolated heavy rain.

West India: Maharashtra and Gujarat to See Isolated Heavy Rains
West India will largely remain dry except for isolated showers in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Kutch will see rain today, while Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada are expected to witness heavy rainfall towards mid-September.

South Peninsular India: Widespread Rain and Gusty Winds
Southern states are expected to remain active with rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds through the week. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Rayalaseema will see moderate to heavy showers. Strong surface winds of up to 40 kmph are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
