A new Western Disturbance is expected to bring showers to the Northwest, while heavy rainfall is anticipated along the southern coasts due to a cyclonic circulation.

A fresh Western Disturbance is predicted to impact the Western Himalayan Region and nearby plains of Northwest India from December 8, 2024. This system is expected to cause:

  • Light to moderate rainfall/snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region.

  • Isolated light rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh on December 8 and 9, 2024.

Cyclonic Circulation in the Bay of Bengal

A cyclonic circulation over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and Southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to evolve into a low-pressure area by December 7, 2024. This system is projected to move towards the Southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts by December 12, 2024.

  • Coastal Tamil Nadu may witness heavy rainfall on December 11 and 12, 2024.

  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema could experience similar conditions on December 12, 2024.
