India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across several states due to a well-marked low-pressure system over Madhya Pradesh and adjacent areas of Rajasthan, which is moving westward. This system is expected to strengthen into a depression over southern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat. As a result, intense showers, thunderstorms, and very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall are anticipated in parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan, with the possibility of exceptionally heavy downpours specifically in the Gujarat region. Here are the details
West & Northwest India: Gujarat and Rajasthan on Alert
A well-marked low-pressure system is moving towards South Rajasthan and North Gujarat, likely intensifying into a depression by September 7. Under its influence, Gujarat and Rajasthan will witness some of the heaviest rain spells this season.
IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat in coming days, with the possibility of exceptionally heavy showers (≥30 cm) on September 6. Rajasthan, particularly the eastern and southwestern districts, is also expected to face very heavy rains during this period.
