Weather Update: IMD Issues Heatwave Alerts for Delhi, Rajasthan, and Gujarat; Heavy Rain Forecast in Kerala, Assam, and Andaman

Heatwaves are expected in parts of India, with Delhi likely to witness temperatures of 40-42 degrees Celsius between April 7 and 8. The IMD has issued alerts for several states, warning of rising temperatures and hot, dry winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather update, forecasting a mixed weather pattern for the country. Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over Gujarat, Rajasthan, and parts of central and north India. Meanwhile, a fresh spell of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected to lash eastern states, offering a brief respite from the rising temperatures. Here are the details:

Cyclonic Systems to Trigger Rain in South and Northeast

Several active weather systems are influencing conditions across India. A cyclonic circulation over Northeast Assam, another over the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and a trough from Madhya Maharashtra to Tamil Nadu are bringing moist winds and instability in the atmosphere.

Western Disturbance to Affect the Himalayas

A fresh western disturbance is expected to impact the Western Himalayan Region from April 8, bringing rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

IMD has also predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures in several regions. However, relief may follow in north India after April 9 due to western disturbances.
