Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Heavy to Extremely Heavy Rainfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal, Bihar, Kerala & Other States This Week

IMD forecasts widespread rainfall across India this week due to multiple active weather systems. Several regions, including Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Bihar, are on alert for heavy to extremely heavy showers.

Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide forecast predicting widespread rainfall across several parts of the country over the coming days. Active monsoon conditions, driven by multiple weather systems such as cyclonic circulations, troughs, and a western disturbance, are expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy showers in many regions.

Intense rainfall is likely to continue over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, with isolated extremely heavy falls in some areas. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also set to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, especially in the ghats and coastal regions. Here are the region wise forecast details

Northwest India: Heavy Rains Over Hills and Plains

Northwest India is bracing for intense showers, especially in the hilly states. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to experience very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the coming days, while parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana may also see significant precipitation.

East & Central India: Widespread Showers with Heavy Spells

Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, especially between August 5 and 7. Jharkhand, Odisha, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will also see periodic heavy downpours.

Northeast India: Persistent Monsoon Showers

Northeast India will continue to experience widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy spells, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

South Peninsular India: Torrential Downpours in Some Regions

South India is likely to experience very active monsoon conditions. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for Kerala and the ghats of Tamil Nadu on August 5 and 6. Other parts of the region including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema will also receive substantial showers.

West India is expected to see relatively milder activity with a few spells of heavy rainfall in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada later in the week.
