Weather Update: IMD Issues Red Alerts for Extremely Heavy Rain in Himachal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra & Jammu; Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab Also on High Alert

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple weather alerts across the country as active monsoon conditions are expected to intensify over the coming week. Multiple weather systems, including cyclonic circulations, troughs, and offshore flows, are currently influencing weather patterns across East, Central, North-West, West, and South India. Several regions are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected in many areas. Here are the details

East & Central India to Witness Widespread Showers

A cyclonic circulation over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and an upper air system over Gangetic West Bengal are expected to bring intense rainfall across central and eastern India. East Madhya Pradesh is likely to see extremely heavy showers.

The Konkan, Goa, and Western Ghats of Maharashtra are on high alert as an offshore trough continues to feed moist winds into the region. The ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra may receive extremely heavy rainfall on July 6 and 7.

Southern States to See Isolated Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

While southern India won’t see widespread flooding, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka may witness very heavy rainfall, along with strong surface winds reaching up to 50 kmph.
