Weather Update: Heatwave Grips Delhi, Rajasthan & Gujarat; Heavy Rainfall Likely in Kerala, Assam & Andaman Islands

Widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are expected in several regions, while temperatures continue to rise, triggering heatwave warnings. Hot and humid conditions will persist in parts of Gujarat and the Konkan region, affecting daily life.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported significant weather systems affecting multiple regions across the country. Upper air cyclonic circulations over southwest Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, south Tamil Nadu, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are influencing weather conditions. These systems are bringing scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in several states. Here are the details

Rainfall and Thunderstorm Forecast

Due to the confluence of moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds (40-50 kmph), is expected across several regions.

Rising Temperatures Across India

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2-4°C in various parts of Northwest and Central India over the next six to seven days. Maharashtra will see an increase of 3-4°C in the coming week. In South Peninsular India, temperatures will remain stable for the next two days before rising by 2-4°C thereafter.

Heatwave conditions are expected in multiple regions, including Saurashtra & Kutch, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. The hottest days are likely to be between April 5-10.
