The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread weather activity across the country over the next week, influenced by a mix of western disturbances, cyclonic circulations, and trough systems. Several regions are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and strong winds. While temperatures in many areas will remain around normal, some locations may still experience hot and humid conditions. Here are the details:
Weather Systems in Action
Multiple upper-air cyclonic circulations are active over north Pakistan, northwest Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, southeast Rajasthan, north Bangladesh, and northeast Assam. These systems are influencing weather across north, central, eastern, and southern India. Troughs running from southeast Rajasthan to Tamil Nadu and north Odisha are further intensifying these impacts.
East and Central India: Thunderstorms and Rain
A series of cyclonic circulations and troughs are expected to trigger scattered to fairly widespread rain over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh till May 6. Thunderstorms and hail are also on the radar.

As multiple weather systems interact, India is set to witness a stormy and cooler first week of May. From the plains of North India to the coastal areas of the South and East, many regions will receive much-needed pre-monsoon rain. However, sudden squalls, hail, and thunderstorms may cause localized disruptions. IMD continues to monitor these evolving systems to provide timely warnings.
