IMD Issues Heavy Rain Warning Across India; Himachal, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Western States on Alert

India will continue to witness active monsoon conditions in September, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, and in some areas extremely heavy rainfall, expected in states like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, IMD has forecast.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country as the monsoon continues to influence various regions. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Northwest India in the coming days, with isolated extremely heavy downpours expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh. Western and central India, including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Coastal Karnataka, may also experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy showers in parts of Gujarat. Northwest India: Isolated Extremely Heavy Rainfall Expected

The northwest region will witness extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places, particularly over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh. The region is influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan, which extends towards Jharkhand. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected at most places during the next seven days.

West India: Gujarat and Konkan Face Very Heavy Rain

Western India, particularly Gujarat and Konkan regions, is likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places during September 3–6. Cyclonic circulations and troughs in the region are responsible for this intensified rainfall activity.

East and central India will experience isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Odisha, and West Bengal during the next week. A low-pressure area over north Bay of Bengal is expected to enhance rainfall in the region.

Northeast India: Continuous Rain Likely

Northeast India is expected to witness isolated heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland during the first week of September. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is forecast at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Southern India will experience isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam may see very heavy rainfall on September 2, while the rest of the southern region will witness moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Delhi/NCR Forecast: Cloudy with Light Rain

The capital region will remain generally cloudy from September 1–4, with one or two spells of very light to light rain or thundershowers. Maximum temperatures are expected below normal, ranging between 28°C and 34°C, while minimum temperatures remain slightly below normal. Winds will predominantly blow from the southeast and northeast directions at 10–25 kmph.
