Weather Update: IMD Warns of Very Heavy Rain in Sikkim, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu; Widespread Showers to Persist Across Northeast, East, and South India

Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Northeast and East India, with intense spells in parts of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Bihar. Tamil Nadu and Kerala may see heavy showers, while central and north peninsular India may witness subdued rainfall.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued extensive weather forecast for the coming days, emphasizing intense rainfall patterns and temperature variations across various regions of the country. Current monsoon dynamics are being influenced by several atmospheric systems, including upper air cyclonic circulations, western disturbances, and a north-shifted monsoon trough. Northeast India: Extremely Heavy Rainfall Alert for Arunachal and Meghalaya

The northeast region will witness persistent rainfall activity through the week. IMD predicts extremely heavy showers over Meghalaya (August 2–3) and Arunachal Pradesh (August 3), with a strong likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning across all states in the region.

Northwest India: Consistent Showers with Severe Spells in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan

Northwestern states, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, are expected to experience continuous monsoon rains through the first week of August. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh on August 3 and 4, and in East Rajasthan from August 3 to 7.

South India: Tamil Nadu and Kerala to Face Intense Showers with Strong Winds

Southern Peninsular India is forecasted to receive widespread rainfall with some regions bracing for very heavy spells. Tamil Nadu will receive intense showers between August 3–5, while Kerala and Mahe may see heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 6–7. The IMD also issued a strong wind warning (40–50 kmph) for the region.
