India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast varied weather conditions for early January 2025. Western Disturbances will bring rainfall and snowfall to the northern regions, while South Tamil Nadu is expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain. Cold wave and dense fog warnings are issued for several states, with temperature changes predicted across the country.

Western Disturbances: Rainfall and Snowfall Over North India

Two Western Disturbances are set to influence the weather in northern India:

  • First Western Disturbance: A cyclonic circulation over eastern Afghanistan at lower tropospheric levels.

  • Second Western Disturbance: A cyclonic circulation over Iraq and its neighborhood at lower and middle tropospheric levels.
