Weather Report: Delhi to Witness Good Rainfall Tomorrow; Heavy Showers, Thunderstorm Likely in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan

In North India, moist easterlies are blowing across the northern plains of the country while a frail Western Disturbance is lying over North Jammu & Kashmir. Therefore, there could be moderate to heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand that might lead to flashfloods & landslides. Moderate showers are likely over Ambala, Chandigarh and weather over remaining states of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan will remain almost dry with isolated thunderstorms.

Skymet Weather official Mahesh Palawat said that the monsoon trough has shifted to Rajasthan & temperatures have increased in the National Capital in the absence of widespread rains. He said the monsoon trough will move again towards Delhi and NCR region on Wednesday – 31 July, bringing more rainfall.  On the other hand, the India Meteorological Department said, "There is a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan that is likely to become less marked by 31 July. Improved rainfall is likely over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh & western Himalayan region from 31 July to 2 August".

Now coming towards Central India, a Cyclonic Circulation is visible over Southeast Rajasthan & another is over Chhattisgarh and adjacent areas. The axis of Monsoon Trough is extending from Southwest Rajasthan towards Northwest Bay of Bengal connecting these two Cyclonic Circulations.

Thus moderate rains with few heavy spells may occur over East Rajasthan that includes Kota, Chittorgarh, Sawai, Madhopur, Bundi, several parts of Madhya Pradesh like Sheopur, Guna,  Sagar, Hoshangabad and South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha & Marathwada.

Goa and Konkan will continue to receive moderate to heavy rains whereas people in Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra will enjoy light to moderate rains. In the meantime rainfall will remain subdued over East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, some parts of Bihar.

There is probability that South Odisha could get one or two heavy spells of rains. Places like Koraput, Gajapati and Ganjam will be impacted due to these rains. The rain activities are likely to increase over Northeast India with isolated places getting heavy to very heavy spells especially over Meghalaya, Assam and parts of Arunachal Pradesh in wake of humid winds from the Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD, Mumbai and its neighboring areas will experience very heavy rainfall for the next 2 days. Mumbai is witnessing continuous downpour since last weekend, which has led to flood-like situations in many parts of the city. People have been advised to stay indoors today.

In Southern part of India, Subdued Monsoon activities are expected to continue over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka. Meanwhile weather in Chennai and Bengaluru will remain dry. Also there could be moderate to heavy rainfall over North Coastal Karnataka and some parts of Telangana with 1 or 2 moderate spells over North Interior Karnataka.
