Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some more parts of South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; most parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, entire southeast Bay of Bengal; some more parts of east-central Bay of Bengal and some parts of west-central & northeast Bay of Bengal. Under the influence of the Western Disturbance, scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers very likely to continue over western Himalayan region and isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over plains of northwest India during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter. Isolated thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty wind are likely over these regions during the next 24 hours, says the Indian Meteorological Department reports in its morning bulletin.
Advancement of Southwest Monsoon in These Places
Conditions are becoming favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Karnataka, entire Tamil Nadu; some parts of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh; entire southwest Bay of Bengal; some more parts of central and northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeast India during next 2 days.
Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of today): at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Kerala & Mahe and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh.
As per yesterday’s reports, maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch, Gangetic West Bengal and South Interior Karnataka while minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Gangetic West Bengal and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
