Weather Alert: Rain & Thunderstorm Likely in Many States Including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana: IMD

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on July 5, 2021 said that light to moderate intensity rain along with thunderstorms are likely in isolated regions of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. 

"Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over isolated places of South-west Delhi, Farukhnagar, Bhiwani, Charki-Dadri, Bhiwadi, Jhajjar (Haryana) and adjoining areas during the next 2 hours," the IMD said in a tweet on Monday.

Moreover, the IMD officials also said that some regions of north India, some of south peninsula, central, east and northeast India could see rainfall in the category of normal to below normal.

On Sunday morning, the air quality of Delhi was in the moderate category. Data received from Central Pollution Control Board highlighted that the hourly air quality index (AQI) at 8.05 am stood at 130.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall along with thunderstorms are likely over north-east Uttar Pradesh, north-west Bihar and south Andhra Pradesh. 

Thunderstorms is likely over much of the east and northeast, along the Malabar Coast, much of the Konkan Coast and in Lakshadweep.

Highest temperature of 40°C or more is predicted over the Thar Desert, NCR and in the northern end of Madhya Pradesh.

During morning hours, dense fog is expected over Trans-Himalayas and in the area with relatively high altitude across Western Himalayas.

Scattered thunderstorms are likely over much of the northeast, some parts of Odisha, along the Malabar Coast, much of the Konkan Coast and in Lakshadweep.

Heavy to extremely heavy rain is predicted in the south part of Meghalaya.

Furthermore, the highest temperature of 40°C or more is likely over Thar Desert, Punjab, Haryana, NCR, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
