In the next few days, there's a good chance that certain locations along the west coast could experience heavy rain. The strong rainfall over the west coast is predicted to continue for the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Between June 23 and June 25, occasional rainfall is predicted for northwest and central India.
Rainfall, thunderstorm/lightning prediction
"Fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during next 5 days," the IMD stated in its weather bulletin. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these seas.
Over the next few days, isolated areas of coastal Karnataka and the Madhya Maharashtra ghat area are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Up till June 26, rain is also predicted in the Gujarat region. Over the next four to five days, extremely heavy rain is expected in the Konkan and Goa regions.
Over northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim over the next few days, widespread rainfall is highly expected. The meteorological department reported, "During Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura across the next five days, and over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya during the 23rd–26th of June, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated to continue. On June 25 and 26, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal is also likely to experience a few isolated, very heavy rainfall."
Over the next five days, it is likely that fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning will persist over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Gangetic West Bengal. Vidarbha is predicted to get rain on June 23 and 24 as well.
