Weather Report: A western disturbance lying over Pakistan has now started affecting northern part of India. The system will be at its peak today (22 November 2019) bringing snowfall or rainfall and thunderstorms over the western Himalayan region. The weather department has predicted widespread snowfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh & Himachal Pradesh until Saturday (23 November 2019).
On the other hand, northeast monsoon still persists over Southern part of the country and will bring irregular rainfall with thunderstorms in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Southern Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka today. The rainfall intensity will slightly weaken from tomorrow onwards. But rains will pick up again next week most probably on 26 November and will continue till 30 November especially along the coastline.
Maximum temperatures would be average or little warm than usual across South India and northeast India till Tuesday. Uttarakhand may also witness widespread snow/rain.
Also, there is a cyclonic circulation over Northeastern India that is likely to bring isolated snowfall or rainfall in some areas of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Remaining areas will remain dry for the next few days.
Weather in Delhi will remain dry with gentle breeze. The air quality of Delhi is likely to deteriorate in the days to come. The overall air quality index or AQI in the national capital stood at 355 at 6.30am on Friday. The weather department said that very low wind speed & high humidity due to a thin fog in the morning led to accumulation of pollutants. A senior weather department official told that the air quality of Delhi will remain severe for next two days.
SAFAR, the government's air quality monitoring & forecasting body said relief can be expected only on 23 November with an increase in wind speed that will disperse pollutants faster. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year.
Lastly, states that will remain dry weather include Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
