Weather Update: Several regions in India may see heat waves in the coming days. A heatwave is predicted for the Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Delhi, and East Madhya Pradesh till June 11, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On June 8, the weather will be similar in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Madhya Pradesh, as well as in Odisha till June 10. In its meteorological report, the IMD also stated that maximum temperatures in most regions of Northwest and Central India will not fluctuate significantly over the next three days.
Following that, temperatures will progressively drop by two to three degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures in the other sections of the nation will not change much during the next four to five days, according to the MeT Department.
Southwest monsoon Update
Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has moved further in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and the southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal. Rainfall is expected over southern states such as Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu due to westerly winds from the Arabian Sea in lower tropospheric levels over South Peninsular India.
Heavy Rainfall likely in South
"Fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning is predicted over Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep over next 5 days; scattered over Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and isolated activity over Telangana," the IMD said. On June 8, isolated severe rainfall is expected over southern Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe, lasting until June 11.
Rainfall is expected in the northern states as well. The IMD predicts widespread light to moderate rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rain across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya during the next three days. West Bengal's sub-Himalayan region, as well as Sikkim, Nagaland, and Mizoram, will have rain in the following days.
Throughout the next five days, isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds is predicted over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal.
