Wayanad Robusta Coffee from Kerala has carved a niche for itself at the World of Coffee 2024 at Copenhagen, a global event that brings together different coffee tastes from across the world under one roof. The acceptance that Wayanad Robusta Coffee got at the meet in Copenhagen from June 27-29 shows that Kerala's unique coffee can find an international market, Industry Minister P Rajeev said.
The Kerala industries department said that Wayanad Robusta Coffee was showcased on the international stage for the first time. Wayanad Robusta Coffee is farmed at heights of 700 to 2,100 meters above sea level.
The Kerala Plantation Department set up a unique exhibit for Wayanad Coffee during the World Coffee Conference in Bangalore last September.
The good response there led the state government to think about the international scope of Wayanad Robusta Coffee, which is still not popular in foreign coffee markets. Minister Rajeev stated that participation in the conference has opened up plenty export opportunities. For this, a detailed plan must be established.
He said many people who visited the stalls of Wayanad Robusta Coffee showed interest in exporting. Around 2,500 people visited the stall of Kerala, the state government said in a release.
