Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to launch a nationwide campaign, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, from Puri, Odisha, tomorrow, May 29, 2025. This campaign marks a significant step toward realizing the government’s vision of “Lab to Land” and building a developed India through modern and progressive agriculture.
Over a period of 15 days, Minister Chouhan will travel across nearly 20 states, directly engaging with farmers, scientists, and agricultural experts to bridge the gap between scientific research and rural application.
Organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with state governments, the campaign will cover more than 700 districts and 65,000 villages, reaching approximately 1.5 crore farmers.
A total of 2,170 dedicated teams will be deployed, supported by all 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 113 ICAR institutes, and state-level departments of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries.
The initiative is aimed at preparing farmers for the upcoming Kharif season. It will focus on educating them about modern agricultural technologies tailored to regional crop requirements, government schemes and subsidies, and the effective use of Soil Health Cards for better crop planning and fertilizer application.
Importantly, the campaign will also collect grassroots-level feedback to better align agricultural research with on-ground realities. This is expected to promote farmer-led innovation and foster knowledge sharing across regions.
Following the launch in Odisha, Minister Chouhan will visit key agricultural states including Jammu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and several others, to spread awareness and empower the farming community.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to establish direct communication between policymakers, scientists, and farmers. It strives to build a sustainable and self-reliant farming ecosystem, contributing significantly to the goal of Viksit Bharat-2047.
