On the fourth day of the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,' on June 1, 2025, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, met with farmers in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. During his visit to Dabhthuwa village, he interacted directly with the farming community, followed by an informal conversation in Jangethi village.
Chouhan explained that he, along with a team of agricultural scientists, is traveling to interact with farmers and promote modern farming techniques. The goal of these village meetings, or 'chaupals,' is to encourage the adoption of advanced agricultural practices that can boost productivity and reduce costs.
The Minister highlighted the need to increase crop yields, ensure fair prices for farmers' produce, and minimize losses, which are key objectives of the 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.'
Launched on May 29, 2025, from Odisha’s Puri district, this ambitious campaign plans to cover nearly 20 states over 15 days. A nationwide network of more than 16,000 agricultural scientists and experts has been mobilized to visit two villages daily, providing farmers with tailored advice suited to their local conditions. This extensive outreach aims to impact over 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts.
The campaign involves 2,170 expert teams, each with at least four members from ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and Farmer Producer Organizations.
These teams will visit more than 65,000 villages, holding multiple sessions each day on important topics like crop selection, seed improvement, soil and water management, natural farming, and cultivation of pulses and oilseeds. VKSA-2025 is expected to continue until June 12, reaching around 10 to 12 lakh farmers daily.
