Veganism made its way to people around the world to put an end to slaughtering animals or treating them deliberately for the procurement of food material. Veganism, as the term defines it, is not just confined to ill-treating animals for foodstuffs but also includes avoiding the use of items that are formulated without animal byproducts. Moreover, with the rise of social media, top-notch brands have been adapting this practice to increase their profits in the market.

However, it is to be taken into consideration that overconsumption of vegan food can lead to serious health issues.

Expert's Opinion on Vegan Diet

Dr Pallavi Aga, a Nutritionist and Lifestyle Management consultant, told Krishi Jagran, "I am totally against it. Consumption of a vegan diet is worthless as it contains an extremely low percentage of micronutrients like Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D, which are essential for human well-being. Humans require good-quality protein, which is available in the form of curd, paneer, milk, and good fats like desi ghee. So, coming up with alternatives like ricotta cheese, soy milk, and almond milk can never do the required job."

Drawback of Consuming Vegan Food

She further added that most of the vegan foods are processed and packaged in huge factories and are further distributed in the markets. Therefore, the establishment of such factories leads to deforestation. So, it is not benefiting the environment in any manner, as said.

One must understand the significance of what each food item can bring to the table. Eliminating a few for the sake of expecting a profitable change in one's lifestyle can never be endorsed.
