The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to provide job opportunities to the youth in fish farming. Yogi government sees considerable employment potential in fisheries sector and believes that it can play a significant role in development of the state and its economy.
As per the government officials, the Chief Minister, Yogi Adiyanath is planning to launch many beneficial schemes through the department of fisheries, which will boost the fisheries business and provide jobs to the needy that will help them become self-reliant.
This will also help to increase the income of the village panchayat from the ponds prepared on the barren Panchayati land in the village.
Along with transmitting training on fisheries, efforts are being made by the government to expand this business on a larger scale. Now farmers can increase their income by farming as well as fisheries, the official said.
To recall, the state government has already increased the period of fishery reservoirs from 3 years to 10 years. Because of this, the state has produced 26.44 lakh MT of fish during the last four years. It has also produced as many as 1191.27 crore fishery seeds in the last four years and provided 5902 fish farmers Kisan credit cards.
UP government has also given the benefit of ‘free fishermen accident insurance scheme’ to farmers by executing 'Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana'.
It has allotted 2215 fishermen houses in the state in the last four years. Besides this, the facilities for Uttar Pradesh fishermen are now available on fish farmer app.
In addition, farmers are directly getting the benefit from the construction of 57 fish seed hatcheries as well as 385 fish seed rearing units in Uttar Pradesh.
Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, UP has received first prize of the best state of inland fisheries.
