
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024, with Shakti Dubey emerging as the top candidate. A total of 1,009 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services (Group A and B).
In an outstanding achievement, Shakti Dubey, a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Allahabad, secured the top position. She chose Political Science & International Relations as her optional subject.
Harshita Goyal, a graduate from MS University of Baroda, secured the second position, also with Political Science & International Relations.
The third rank was taken by Dongre Archit Parag, an engineering graduate from VIT Vellore, who opted for Philosophy.
Shah Margi Chirag, a Computer Engineering graduate from Gujarat Technological University in Ahmedabad, claimed the fourth position with Sociology as his optional subject.
Aakash Garg, a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, completed the top five rankings.
Among the top 25 candidates, 11 are women, highlighting the growing participation and success of women in civil services. These top performers come from a variety of academic backgrounds, including engineering, humanities, and medical sciences, and have chosen diverse optional subjects such as Anthropology, Commerce, Sociology, and Public Administration.
In total, 992,599 candidates applied for the UPSC examination, with 583,213 appearing for the preliminary test on June 16, 2024. Out of those, 14,627 candidates qualified for the written (main) examination, and 2,845 candidates were selected for the Personality Test. Ultimately, 1,009 candidates were recommended by the commission.
This year, 45 candidates from the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category made it to the final list. These candidates represent various categories of disability, including those who are orthopedically handicapped, visually challenged, and hearing impaired.
The Centre has announced a total of 1,129 vacancies across top civil services, which includes 180 for IAS, 55 for IFS, 147 for IPS, and 605 for Central Services Group A. Additionally, there are 142 vacancies in Group B Services.
The UPSC has created a Reserve List of 230 candidates who may be appointed if additional vacancies arise. Furthermore, the candidature of 241 candidates has been kept provisional, while the results of one candidate have been withheld.

The final marks of all candidates will be available on the UPSC website within 15 days from the declaration of results.
